Gosar, Sophie (Marriage – 2 Aug. 1943)

Miss Sophie Gosar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gosar, Greenwood, Wis., was united in marriage to Tech. Sgt. John Trunkel, who is stationed in Oakland, California, and who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Trunkel, Willard, on August 2, 1943 at 8:30 a.m. The wedding was performed at the Holy family church at Willard, the Rev. Stragisher reading the double-ring ceremony.

The altar was trimmed with mixed flowers and about 200 guests were present. The wedding march was played by the bride’s sister, Mary Gosar. The bride, who was given away by her father, was dressed in a princess styled lace-trimmed satin gown with a finger veil falling from a pearl tiara and she carried a bouquet of white roses.

The maid of honor, Josephine Laken, a friend of the bride, was gowned in pink velveray, fashioned with a square neckline and full skirt. The bridesmaid, Ann Gosar, a sister of the bride, was dressed in aqua velveray, fashioned with a square neckline and full skirt, and both carried pink gladiolis, carnations and roses. They also wore tiaras and shoulder length veils, matching their gowns.

The groom was attended by Frank Koschak, a friend, and his brother, Edward Trunkel ushered.

The bride’s mother wore a light blue dress and the groom’s mother choose a dark blue and white dress. Both wore mixed flowers corsages.

A wedding reception for about 200 guests were given at the bride’s home at 6 p.m. that evening. The house was trimmed with red, white, and blue streamers and on the center of the table was a three tiered wedding dance was held in honor of the happy couple at the west side hall, Willard.

The bride’s going-away outfit was a gray suit with matching accessories.

The bride and groom will be at home at Oakland, Calif. after August 7.

The bride is a graduate of the Greenwood High School; took the teacher’s training course at Neillsville High School and has been a rural school teacher in Clark County. The groom has been in the Army for nearly two years. Before entering the Army he was engaged in painting and electrical work around Willard. The wedding couple left the day after the wedding for Oakland, Calif., where they will make their home.
