Obit: Prange, John Albert (1857 – 1945)
Surnames: Prange, Hoffmann, Sill, Kowalk, Baumgart, Sachse, Augustine, Ramker, Pacholke, Goldon Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 07/26/1945 Prange, John Albert (14 Sept. 1857 – 22 July 1945) John Albert Prange died at the home of his son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sill, Sunday morning, July 22, at 3:15 A.M., after being ill with old age complications, a heart ailment and paralysis the past four years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, July 25th, at 1:30 P.M. at the Lulloff Funeral Home and at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Paul Sill, Herbert Prange, Otto Kowalk, Ted Baumgart, Donald Prange, Lavern Prange. Those in charge of the flowers were Arlyn Sachse, Joyce Prange, Betty Prange, Hildegard Augustine, Ella Ramker, Mabel Kowalk and Helen Pacholke. The deceased was born in Varzen, Province Germany, on Sept. 14, 1857, thus reaching the age of 87 years, 10 months and seven days. He was married to Augusta Goldon in Germany in 1880. They came to the United States in April, 1907, and engaged in farming in Marathon county. Mrs. Prange died 22 years ago and Mr. Prange moved to the city of Colby in 1934. Of the 13 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Prange, seven survive, namely – August Prange of Chicago, Max Prange of North Fond du Lac, Otto Prange of Racine, Wm. Prange of Ridgeland, Carl Prange of the town of Hull, Mrs. Godfried Prange of Unity and Mrs. Frank Sill of Colby. There are 23 grand children and nine great grand children. The deceased was a good Christian, a kind husband and father, and, like all early pioneers, of a congenial and friendly disposition, well-liked by all who knew him.
