Surnames: Fehlman, Ferguson, Holtzhausen, Cattanach, Loos, Schultz, Zillmann, Nelsen, Sturner, Wenn Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 09/13/1945 Fehlman, George (18 Apr. 1872 – 6 Sept. 1945) Funeral services for George Fehlman, who died at the Marshfield hospital Thursday evening at the age of 73 years following an illness of several months, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home Monday afternoon. Rev. M. B. Ferguson officiated at the church services and Walter Cattanach of Owen at the Masonic rites. Pall bearers were Carl Holtzhausen, E. D. Loos, Ernie Schultz, Ed Zillmann. C. A. Nelsen and O. W. Sturner. George Fehlman was born on April 18th, 1872, in Palestine, Ill., and moved to South Dakota in 1882 with his parents who engaged in farming. Later they moved to Frankfort, S.D., where George was postmaster for eight years. He came to Colby on April 1, 1915, and engaged in farming with a brother who preceded him in death. He never married. Surviving are one brother, Albert Fehlman of Briton, S. Dak., and 24 nieces and nephews. Out of town people here for the funeral were Mrs. John Fehlman of Frankfort S.D., a sister in law, and Mrs. John Wenn of Watertown, S.D., a niece. The deceased was a just and upright citizen and held offices of city alderman and justice of the peace in Colby for several years. He was a courteous and obliging neighbor and always endeavored to perform his duties to the best of his ablility.
