April 12, 2006 Geiger, Stella O. (6 Oct. 1905 – 11 April 2006) Stella O. Smudde Geiger ABBOTSFORD -- Stella O. Smudde Geiger, 100, of Abbotsford died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Colby. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, and until time of services Tuesday, both at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford. There will be a parish rosary service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Stella was born Oct. 6, 1905, in Wausau to Frank and Mathilda (Kluckman) Krueger. Stella and Robert Smudde were married Jan. 3, 1927. They farmed in Colby and in 1960 moved to Abbotsford. She was employed at Danielson Dry Cleaning. Robert died in May of 1966. Stella and Frank Geiger were married Nov. 7, 1970. He died April 17, 2004. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Stella enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, knitting, bowling, fishing, gardening and flowers. Stella is survived by her children, Wilbert (Helen) Smudde of Butternut, George (Delores) Smudde of Glenview, Ill., Raymond (Irene) Smudde of Huntley, Ill., Emily (Bernard) Raczykowski of Abbotsford, Tony (Alyce) Smudde of Elk Grove Village, Ill., Theresa Baehler of Merrillville, Ind., and Vera Lukas of Naperville, Ill.; 27 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; her stepchildren, Rita (Emery) Schmitt of Abbotsford, Louis (Kathleen) Geiger of Sparta, Jeanette (Vernon) Hanne of Yuma, Ariz., Doris (Dean) Witte of Colby, Celine (Leo) Lofland of Ogema and Diane (Darrel) Sterzinger of Howell, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert and Frank; two children, Lester and Martha; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. |
