(9 Jan. 1925 – 10 April 2006) Emil W. Mackowey Emil W. Mackowey, 81, died Monday, April 10, 2006, at his residence in the of town of Fremont. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, at Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Robert Brandt of Immanuel Lutheran Church will officiate. Harriet Brandt will provide music. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Peter, David and Danny Dietel, Doug Bolen, Bill Harter and Norman Mackowey. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Emil was born Jan. 9, 1925, in the town of Kronenwetter, a son of William and Emma (Fisher) Mackowey. In 1938, the family moved to the Dorchester area where Emil graduated in 1943. That year the family purchased a dairy farm in the town of Fremont in Clark County. Emil continued to live and work the family farm until his death. Mr. Mackowey enjoyed attending auctions, spending time in the outdoors, fishing, his cats and playing the harmonica. Emil enjoyed visiting with his family and his weekly calls to his brother and sisters. Mr. Mackowey is survived by his sisters, Leona Lippert, Montello, Grace Weis, Arpin, Doris Krause, Marshfield, and Lillian (John) Harter, Wausau; one brother, Norman Mackowey, Milwaukee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. One sister, Ellen Dietel in 1984, and one brother, Arthur in 1944, preceded Emil in death.
