Paap, Hattie (9 OCT 1940)

A very pretty fall wedding took place at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Stanley on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 1940, at 2:00 o’clock when Miss Hattie Caroline Paap, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Paap, and Henry Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hanson, all of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), were united in marriage by Rev. F.H. Sprengler.

The double ring service was performed under an arch of yellow daisies. The church was beautifully decorated with baskets of fall flowers and tapers, each basket being tied with bouquets of white, pink, or blue streamers.

The bride was dressed in a beautiful floor-length gown of white satin, fashioned in princess style with long sleeves, puffed at the shoulders, and a sweetheart neckline. Her veil, which fell entrain, was edged with Alecon lace and fastened with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white pompoms, white roses and swansonias. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Miss Florence Paap, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, wore a gown of aqua blue taffeta and carried Talisman roses and bronze chrysanthemums. Miss Edna Paap, another sister, as bridesmaid, wore a gown of dusty rose, and Miss Juanita Hoffstatter, a gown of pink taffeta. The bride’s mother wore a navy blue dotted wool sheer with a corsage of red roses. The groom’s mother wore a shoulder blue wool crepe with a corsage of pink roses.

After a short wedding trip the couple will make their home temporarily in the town of Worden. The groom is employed at the Farmers Store in Stanley.

The groom and best man, Robert Brandt, a cousin of the bride, and John Qualheim all wore dark suits.
