Risum, Vera (Marriage – 2 July 1946)

Miss Vera Risum of Brodhead, the daughter of Mrs. Louis Risum of Brodhead, and John Harris of Colby, were united in marriage on Tuesday, July 2, at the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Brodhead, Wis., Rev. W. R. Husby reading the marriage ceremony. Marybelle Resitu, soloist, sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “I Love You Truly.”

Eunice Risum, sister of the bride, of San Antonio, Texas, was maid of honor, and Miss Ethel Harris, sister of the groom, of Colby, was the bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Arvin Risum of Brodhead and Lindwood Harris of Colby. Miss Louise Barker, niece of the bride, of Racine, Wis., was flower girl.

The bride was attired in a heavy nylon bridal gown with a sweetheart neckline with a veil of French veiling draped from a pearled tiara. Her bouquet consisted of calla-lilies. The maid of honor wore a dress of pale blue shear blouse with white embroider plain blue skirt covered with white netting. Her bouquet consisted of pink carnations. The bridesmaid wore a gown of yellow taffeta with pale yellow netting over skirt and her bouquet consisted of pale pink and white carnations. The flower girl wore a dress of blue organdy with white embroider trim. She carried a blue and white basket with red tea roses.

A reception was given at the home of the bride’s mother. The table was decorated with pink and blue streamers and a large three-tier wedding cake.

The newlyweds left on a wedding trip to Northern Illinois and, after July 5th, will be at home on the groom’s farm at Colby, Wis.
