Riley, Dorothy Rose (Marriage – 14 Sept. 1946)

A wedding in the First Baptist church at Goodfield, Ill., Saturday afternoon united in marriage Miss Dorothy Rose Riley, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Riley, Deer Creek, Ill., former residents of Colby, and Rodney D. Fuller, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Fuller, Unity.

Mr. and Mrs. Fuller are now on a wedding trip to Canada and will be at home in Unity next week.

The Rev. Mr. Riley, who was pastor of the First Methodist church in Colby several years prior to 1942, read the 4 o’clock marriage service for his daughter and the bridegroom.

Before the ceremony, Miss Frances Riley, a sister of the bride, sang “Because” and “Always” and Mrs. Loran Cornwall played a program of organ music.

Attendants of the bride were her sisters, Miss Muriel J. Riley, as maid of honor, and Miss Frances Riley and Mrs. Fred Rayburn, of Peoria, Ill., as bridesmaids. Daniel Lee Rayburn, Peoria, the bride’s nephew, was ringbearer and Corale Cornwell acted as flower girl. Wayne Fuller, Janesville, stood with his brother, as best man. Ushers were Lyle Fuller, Wausau, another brother of the groom, and Fred Rayburn, Peoria.

The bride wore a gown of Velverae organza over white satin, a finger-tip veil, falling from a seed pearl tiara, and a strand of pearls, the gift of the groom. She carried white gladioli. The maid of honor was gowned in yellow taffeta and carried orchid gladioli, while the bridesmaids wore similar frocks of blue and pink taffeta, accented by bouquets of pink gladioli. The small flower girl was in white net and carried a basket of cut flowers.

Following the ceremony, a supper for the immediate families was held at the bride’s home, which was decorated with cut flowers. Among out-of-town guests were the Rev. and Mrs. Marley Hartley, Clinton, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fuller, of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Wayner Fuller, Janesville; and Mrs. Chester Olson and the bridegroom’s parents, Unity.

Mrs. Fuller is a graduate of the Colby high school, with the class of 1942, and attended Shurtleff college in Alton, Ill. She was employed in Peoria before her marriage. The bridegroom, a 1940 graduate of the Unity high school, was in the European war theater with the army for three years and is now employed in Unity.
