Obit: Pribbenow, Herman (1844 - 1917)
Surnames: PRIBBENOW JACQUES KOLPACK LAMAR DENNERY JACQUE Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 03/15/1917 Pribbenow, Herman (5 JUL 1844 - 12 MAR 1917) Herman Pribbenow, residing one mile north of the village (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.), ended his earthly career on Monday afternoon last by committing suicide. His wife and daughter Minnie were in the village for a short time during the afternoon, and upon their return found him dead. He had thrown a piece of binder twine over a rafter in the summer kitchen, looped the same about his neck, tipped over the chair on which he was standing, and strangled. Neighbors and Justice George Burke were immediately notified, and the latter, after consulting with district attorney, W. J. Rush, deemed an inquest unnecessary. Mr. Pribbenow was born in Pommern, Prussia, July 5, 1844, where he resided until 1881 when he came to this country and settled on a farm in what is now the town of Reseberg, Clark County. During the year 1866 he served in the war with Austria and in 1871-72 against France. Some years ago he sold his large farm in Reseberg and purchased a small place north of town. For the past four years he has been in very poor health and at times an intense sufferer. He leaves a wife and five daughters: Mrs. Henry Jacques of Reseberg, Mrs. John Kolpack of Gilman, Mrs. Wm. Lamar of Medford, Mrs. Bert Dennery of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Miss Minnie who resides at home. The funeral will take place today, Rev. Schwertfeger officiating, interment taking place in the cemetery in the town of Reseberg.
