Obit: Frank, Grace (1881 - 1919)
Surnames: FRANK BOARDMAN Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 01/16/1919 Frank, Grace (6 MAR 1881 - 9 JAN 1919) Again the death angel came unbidden into our midst and claimed for his own the spirit of Grace Frank and carried it back to God who gave it. By the visit of this death angel the home of W. J. Frank is shrouded in gloom. The hearts of Grace's friends are greatly grieved at having to part from her. Bright, happy and always cheerful, she carried sunshine with her wherever she went. She had always a smile and pleasant word for her friends. Her death comes as a dark shadow to friends and relatives who loved her so dearly. Grace Boardman Frank, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Boardman, the first settlers upon the site where the village of Thorp, Clark County, Wis. is located, and the wife of Dr. W. J. Frank, died at her home in this village on Thursday, Jan. 9, 1919, after a severe illness of about twenty-four hours duration. An autopsy performed following her death, revealed the cause as having been a gastric ulcer, which had burst when taken ill the day previous and placed beyond medical aid. Deceased was born here on March 6, 1881. Here she grew to womanhood, graduated form the high school and later taught several years in the lower grades. On June 24, 1903, she was united in marriage with Dr. Frank, and the union was a most happy one. Four children were born of this marriage, Maxine, aged 15, Kathro, 11, Jane, aged 5 and William J. Jr., now nearly two years old, who with the deeply afflicted husband, and two brothers, Melvin and Anson Boardman, survive to mourn the sad loss of wife, mother and sister. The great esteem in which she was held by the entire community and friends from nearby town was evinced by the large concourse of friends present at the funeral which took place from the home on Saturday afternoon last. The service, which was very brief, was conducted by Rev. George Crow. Interment followed in the Thorp Village Cemetery.
