Monday, December 24, 2007 ---Mielke, Hugo Richard (15 Sept. 1917 – 22 Dec. 2007) Hugo Mielke Hugo Mielke, 90, of Colby, died Dec. 22, 2007, at Colonial Center in Colby. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in March Rapids on Highway P. Burial will be in St. John's High Steeple in the town of Wein. Mielke COLBY -- Hugo Richard Mielke, 90, of Colby, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at the Colonial Center, Colby. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids. Burial will be in St. John's (High Steeple) Lutheran Cemetery, town of Wien. The Rev. Thomas Haar will officiate. Pallbearers will be Edward Mielke Jr., Donald Kunkel, Albert Wolff, Wilbur Krause, Damon Denzin and Stuart Eggert. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford and one hour before services Friday at the church. Hugo was born Sept. 15, 1917, in the town of Wien, Marathon County, to Ludwig and Anna (Drachenberg) Mielke. He went to Smith School in the town of Frankfort for eight years. He married Mabel Schultz on May 25, 1956, in Spencer. She died in 1959. Hugo then married Jeanne (Kohl) Viergutz on Aug. 19, 1969, in Marshfield. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in the town of Frankfort, Marathon County. He served as town of Frankfort assessor and on both St. John's (High Steeple) and Emmanuel Lutheran Church's councils. He enjoyed playing cards and was a good joke teller. Hugo is survived by his wife, Jeanne Mielke, Colby; sons, Richard Mielke and Daniel (Michelle) Mielke, both of Colby; stepchildren, Rose (Bob) Denzin, Atlanta, Ga., Janet (Steve) Eggert, St. Louis, Mo.; Susan (Robert) Gebel, Milwaukee, Ruth (Dan) Hawk, Knoxville, Tenn., the Rev. William (Daphne) Viergutz, Burlington, Colo.; three grandchildren, Adam, Melissa and Cindsey Mielke; 10 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Edward (Laura) Mielke Sr., Abbotsford. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ed Witzke; first wife, Mabel, in 1959; brothers, Leopold, Otto and Carl Mielke; and sisters, Theresa Kunkel, Ida Nichols, Hulda Wolff and Anna Bessler.
