Stecker, Jeanette Ann (Marriage – 28 Dec. 1946)

Miss Jeanette Ann Stecker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stecker, and Vernon Gilbert Sommer, son of Theodore Sommer, were united in marriage at a ceremony performed by Rev. Robert Leonhardt at the First Ev. and Reformed church at Colby Saturday afternoon, Dec. 28th, at 3:00 P.M. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Eileen Killer was maid of honor and Miss Marilyn Sommer and Miss Elsie Miller were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Leo Stecker as best man and Leonard Wachsmuth as groomsman.

The bride was attired in a gown of satin bodice, net skirt with over skirt of net, edged and inserted with lace extending into a long train, fingertip veil, edged with lace with beaded headdress. She also wore a locket, a gift of the groom. Her shower bouquet consisted of white mums and yellow roses. The maid of honor wore a print frock of blue organdy, of white lily of the valley design, with a matching bonnet. Her shoulder corsage consisted of carnations and sweet peas. The bridesmaids wore identical frocks as the maid of honor in white and pink respectively. Each wore matching bonnets and corsages and carried handkerchiefs, gifts of the bride. All the groom’s attendants wore double-breasted brown suits with carnation boutonnieres.

A reception was given 35 guests at the home of the bride’s parents. Home decorations consisted of blue, pink and white streamers and a large wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom, centered the table. A dance was given at the Atwood hall.

The couple will be at home on a farm at Curtiss, Wis.
