Surnames: Passehl, Writz, Notbohm, Weyneth, Hoernke, Dorfschmidt Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 07/31/1947 Passehl, Laurene (Marriage – 26 July 1947) Miss Laurene Passehl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Passehl of Colby, and George Writz, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Writz of the town of Rietbrock, Marathon county, exchanged marriage vows in St. John’s Lutheran church, town of Wien, Marathon county, Saturday afternoon, Rev. Ernst Notbohm reading the marriage ceremony. Mrs. Notbohm played the wedding march and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Passehl, Jr., sang “God Will Take Care of You” and “The Lord is My Shepherd.” For the ceremony, the bride chose a gown of patterned lace, with a full entrained skirt. A headdress of seed pearls, in heart design, held her veil in place and two entwined hearts of lace ornamented its flowing train. She carried a shower bouquet of red roses and white carnations. The matron of honor, Mrs. Hebert Passehl, sister-in-law of the bride, was gowned in yellow, while two of the bridesmaids, Miss Regina Writz, cousin of the bridegroom, and Miss Delores Weyneth, niece of the bride, were in blue, and the other bridesmaid, Miss Ella Hoernke, cousin of the bride, was in orchid. Bows to match their gowns tied their colonial bouquets. Herbert Passehl, brother of the bride, Jerome Passehl, her cousin, Benjamin Writz, cousin of the bridegroom, and Edward Dorfschmidt, attended the bridegroom. A reception and supper were held at the home of the bride’s parents. About 150 were entertained. In the evening, the couple was honored at a wedding dance at the Trianon Gardens ball room. The couple will be at home to friends after August 4th at Marshfield where both have been employed for some time.
