Ipsen, Charles H. (1 Dec. 1885 – July 1947)

Funeral services for Charles H. Ipsen, whose death was reported last week, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home in Colby Thursday afternoon, July 24, Rev. Frederick J. Smith, pastor of the Colby Methodist church, officiating and internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. Pall bearers were F. C. Lueloff, Matt Orth, Jack Pribnow, Jr., Ted Baumgart, Vern Steffen, and Emil Pokallus.

The deceased was born in New Holstein, Wis., on Dec. 1, 1885, and came to Colby when 27 years of age. He was married to Alvina Martens at Colby on August 19, 1919. Mr. Ipsen was employed at the former canning factory in Colby as superintendent for 17 years. The past ten years he operated a tavern at Abbotsford.

Surviving are his widow, one son, Ernest Ipsen of Beaver Dam, one daughter, Mrs. Selma Berndt of Beaver Dam, two brothers, August Ipsen of Cobb, Wis., and Henry Ipsen of Cuba City, three sisters, Mrs, Peter Werner of Holstein, Iowa, Frieda Ipsen of Milwaukee and Norbert Daley of Wisconsin Rapids and one grand daughter, Mrs. Russell Spears of Waterloo, Iowa. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

The deceased was of an industrious, honest and congenial disposition and had many friends who were sorry to learn of his sudden departure.
