Surnames: Gierl, Beschta, Apfelbeck, Becker, Orth, Meyer, Beyerl, Rohlinger, Kesler, Stoffel, Klumpyan, Roth, Harrison, Schilly, McNeight Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 11/27/1947 Gierl, Anna (12 Oct. 1877 – 20 Nov. 1947) Mrs. Anna Gierl died at the home of her son, Nick Gierl, at 5:30 P.M. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the age of 70 years, after being ill only one week. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church on Monday morning, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Pall bearers were Peter Apfelbeck, Ed Becker, Conrad Orth, William Meyer, Ben Apfelbeck, Louis Beyerl. Anna Rohlinger was born at Lomira on October 12, 1877, and was married there on Sept. 28, 1904, to Frank Gierl. Soon after their marriage they came to Colby and settled on a farm in the town of Hull where they resided until the death of Mr. Gierl on Nov. 26, 1937. Since that time she resided at the home of her only son, Nick. Surviving are a son and a daughter, Mrs. Oliver (Marie) Kesler of Greenwood, 11 grand children and two brothers, Matt Rohlinger of Lomira and Anton Rohlinger of Fond du Lac. Out of town people here for the funeral were Matt Rohlinger and his brother of Lomira, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Kesler and children of Greenwood, Matthew Rohlinger and Mrs. Joe Stoffel of Lomira, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Rohlinger and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klumpyan of Kewaskum, Mrs. John Roth and Mrs. Rosalia Harrison of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Klumpyan and son, Harry, Martin Schilly and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Klumpyan of Wausau, Mrs. Joe Gierl and son, Edward, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gierl and Mrs. Floyd Gierl of Athens and Mr. and Mrs. Al McNeight of Stratford. Mrs. Gierl was well known in Colby for her fine Christian character and congenial disposition and will be missed by her many friends.
