Surnames: Montgomery, Wilde, Redig Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 05/13/1948 Montgomery, Edith (Marriage – 1 May 1948) Edith Montgomery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Montgomery of Milwaukee, and Robert J. Wilde, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wilde of Colby, exchanged marriage vows Saturday, May 1, at 8:00 A.M. at St. Michaels Catholic church in Milwaukee. Rev. A. E. Redig performed the marriage ceremony. The Lord’s Prayer and Ave Maria were sung by the church organist. Miss Edna Montgomery, twin sister of the bride, was maid of honor and the groom was attended by his brother, James Wilde of Colby. The bride was attired in a white shark skin suit, lace embroidered blouse with pearls, large lace sweetheart shaped hat and white shoes and gloves. Her corsage consisted of three orchids. The maid of honor wore a beige suit with blue accessories. Her corsage consisted of American beauty roses. The bride’s mother wore a grey and purple street dress and the groom’s mother wore a black crepe suit and the corsages of both consisted of red roses. Breakfast was served the bridal party at the bride’s home. Dinner was served at the Schwaben-Hof, N-12th St., Milwaukee. A reception was held at the Spanish Gardens hall in Milwaukee. The hall was decorated with balloons and colored streamers. The Spanish Gardens orchestra furnished music for dancing. Beer and soda were served throughout the evening. A lunch was served guests at midnight. The wedding cake consisted of four tiers with pink and white roses topped with a miniature bride and groom. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. James Wilde and son, James.
