Machlett, Fred F. (6 June 1873 – 13 Mar. 1948)

Fred F. Machlett of Curtiss, who passed away on Saturday morning, March 13, from a heart attack, was born at Curtiss on June 6, 1873, and lived in the Curtiss community all his life. He is survived by his wife, one son, Henry, of Cleveland, Ohio, one brother, Ben Machlett of Eau Claire, and one sister, Mrs. O. C. Cox of Kennan. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at the Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. G. E. Borreson officiating and internment was made in the family lot of the parish cemetery. Arthur Lokken, accompanied by Dorothy Thompson, sang “O God of Promise” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Pall bearers were John Michlig, George Hoff, Grant Herrick, Alfred Erickson, Lee Smiley and Albert Klessig. The floral tributes were in charge of Evelyn Kludy, Virginia Johnson, Jackie Rice, Grace Randell, Lorraine Boss, Dorothy Klug and Anna Marie Schraufnagel. Over forty friends made contributions for church work in his memory.

Among out of town people attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Machlett of Cleveland, Ohio, Miss Jackie Rice, Toledo, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Machlett, and son of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kludy and Jerome Johnson of Chicago, Mrs. Wm. Klug, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bejin, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bejin, Jr., of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jacobson of Chetek, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Randall of Sturgeon Bay, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bootzin of Medford, Mrs. O. C. Cox and son, Kennan, Miss Anne B. Hanson, Wausau, Rev. and Mrs. W. L. Anderson and daughters of Rosholt, Mr. and Mrs. Aluf Olsen and John Peterson of Neillsville.
