Nagel, Robert LeRoy (19 Nov. 1930 – 23 Nov. 2005)

Robert LeRoy Nagel, was born on November 19, 1930, in Primghar, Iowa, the son of Fred and Selma (Shrock) Nagel. He lived his youth and attended school in Ocheyedan, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. He worked for Hattendorf Construction before he served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954, as an aircraft mechanic 2nd class. When he returned from the military, he worked as a journeyman mason. In 1966, Robert moved to Abbotsford, Wisconsin, where he farmed.

He was united in marriage to Hilda Stewart of Milton, Ireland, on December 29, 1970, in Jackson, Minnesota. They lived in Abbotsford, Wisconsin, where they continued to farm until 1980, when Robert retired. They continued to live in Wisconsin until 1985, when they moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa. Hilda passed away on August 16, 2004.

Robert was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan. He served on the board of directors for the Senior Citizens in Ocheyedan.

His family was very special to him. He babysat his granddaughter, and enjoyed going to visit his children. He enjoyed reading, westerns were his favorite genre. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping.

Robert passed away in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, while visiting his daughter for Thanksgiving.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children: Stewart (and Rose) Nagel of Ft. Polk, LA, Cyndi (and Jonathan) Brassow of Eagan, MN, Tanya Nagel of Ocheyedan, IA; his grandchildren: Kylie Nagel of Ocheyedan, IA, Jacob Brassow of Eagan, MN, Matthew Nagel of Ft. Polk, LA; one brother: Victor Nagel of Little Rock, AK.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Hilda; his parents; three brothers and five sisters.

Robert Nagel, age 75, of Ocheyedan, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Memorial service will be Saturday, December 3, 2005, at 11:30 A.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan. Rev. Russell Anderson officiating.

There will be no visitation.
