Flynn, Jean (Marriage – 19 Sept. 1952)

In an informal ceremony Friday evening, Sept. 19, Miss Jean Flynn of Wauconda, Ill., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Flynn of Coneanut Lake Park, Pa., formerly of Barrington, Ill., and Gerald Allmann of Libertyville, Ill., son of Mrs. Lily Allmann of Colby, were united in marriage. Rev. Edwin Stevens of Mount Prospect Community church read the double ring service at 7:30 o’clock in the presence of relatives and friends.

A setting of autumn flowers and candles formed the background for the ceremony and music for the occasion was furnished by Mrs. Raymond Hylander, church organist, and Mrs. Robert Peterson of Wauconda, soloist, who sang “Through the Years” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Jack Flynn of Wauconda, brother of the bride, and Mrs. Shirley Nagode of Libertyville, a friend, served as best man and matron of honor.

The bride who was escorted to the altar by her brother-in-law, Marvin Taylor of Lake Zurich, Ill., wore a natural colored faille suit with brown shoes. Her corsage was of brown orchids and she wore a couple of miniature flowers in her hair.

A royal blue suit was worn by the matron of honor and her corsage was of red roses.

The couple’s mothers were in suits also, Mrs. Flynn wearing slate gray and red accessories and a corsage of red roses and Mrs. Allmann choosing navy blue with yellow roses pinned at her shoulder.

Immediately after the ceremony, the wedding reception was held at the Taylor home where some 25 guests were on hand to extend good wishes to the couple. Refreshments included the two-decker wedding cake which was served by the hostess, the bride’s sister, Mrs. Taylor, who is the former Marilee Flynn.

Following a short honeymoon, the newlyweds are making their home temporarily at Woodland’s Trailer Park at Wauconda.

A graduate of Barrington High School, the bride is employed by Campbell Cab Company at Wauconda and Mr. Allmann works for the Frank Hough Company at Libertyville.
