Surnames: Ackerman, Stecker, Puhlmann, Gayken, Doud, Gosse, Loos, Gilbertson Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 10/09/1952 Ackerman, Janet (Marriage – 2 Oct. 1952) Miss Janet Ackerman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Ackerman of Curtiss, and Floyd Stecker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stecker of Colby, were united in marriage Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock in St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church, Rev. Franz Paul Puhlmann reading the marriage ceremony. The bride was attired in an entrained ice-blue satin gown styled with a Chantilly lace yoke and a ruffle of white net. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a bonnet of net and lace. Mrs. Clifford Gayken of Curtiss, a sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. She wore a gold taffeta gown with a lace yoke and carried a bouquet of mixed mums. Miss Gloria Doud, a niece of the groom, was maid of honor and Mrs. Victor Gosse of Curtiss was bridesmaid. They wore dusty rose and teal blue gowns with lace capes and matching hats and gauntlets, respectively. Leo Stecker of Colby, a brother of the groom, was best man and Sam Gosse and Victor Gosse, the latter a brother-in-law of the bride, were groomsmen. Darrell Loos of Colby and Roger Gilbertson of Taylor, a cousin of the bride, were ushers. The bride’s mother wore a dark grey suit and the mother of the groom wore a black dress. Both had black accessories and a corsage of pink and yellow carnations. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gosse which was decorated in the same colors as the girls’ dresses. In the evening, a dance was held at the Colby Park Pavilion. The bride is a graduate of the Owen High School. The groom is a graduate of Colby High School and attended Stout Institute at Menomonie. He is now serving in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Long Island, N.Y. Guests at the wedding were from Duluth, Minn., Superior, Taylor, Medford, Owen and Arpin. The groom is in the air force, stationed at Suffolk county, Long Island, N.Y., and reported back at camp on October 8th. The bride will join him later.
