Surnames: Mielke, Bauman, Hoffmann, Heucke, Lallantrim, Giese, Gleger, Witte, Priem Source: Colby Phonograph (Colby, Clark County, Wis.) 06/18/1953 Mielke, Anita Ellen (Marriage – 13 June 1953) Miss Anita Ellen Mielke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Mielke of Colby, and Wendell Charles Bauman of Edgar, exchanged marriage vows Saturday at 1:30 P.M. in Zion Lutheran church in Colby, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony. Miss Evelyn Mielke, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor, and Delores Bauman of Edgar, cousin of the groom, Lucille Heucke of Stratford and Shirley Lallantrim of Edgar were bridesmaids. The groom was attended by Dennis Bauman of Edgar as best man and Albert Mielke of Colby, brother of the bride, William Heucke of Stratford and Robert Bauman of Edgar, cousin of the groom. Ushers were William Giese of Edgar, brother-in-law of the bride, and Joe Gleger of Wausau, the groom’s uncle. Donna Witte sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “O Perfect Love,” accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Lawrence Priem. The bride was attired in a gown of satin designed with a lace yoke tapering to a point at the waist with lace appliqués. The full-length skirt and train was adorned with lace insets. The veil of silk illusion edged with chantilly lace was attached to a head piece of seed pearls and rhinestones. Her bouquet consisted of white baby roses, lilies of the valley and carnations, centered around a large orchid. The maid of honor wore a white gown fashioned with lace bodice that extended in points into the bouffant net skirt and cap sleeves. Her bouquet consisted of carnations and roses. The bridesmaids wore blue gowns styled similarly to the maid of honor’s. The bride’s mother wore a light blue lace dress with navy blue and white accessories. The groom’s mother wore an orchid dress with white accessories. Both mothers wore corsages of carnations to match their ensembles. A reception and dinner for 200 guests were held at the home of the bride. The room was decorated with streamers of blue and white and a white wedding bell. The bride’s table was centered with a large wedding cake. The bride is a graduate of Colby High School and is employed at the Hotel Wausau. The groom is a graduate of Edgar High School and is engaged in farming. The newly married couple will make their home on the groom’s farm after their return form a honeymoon in Northern Wisconsin. Guests attending the wedding were from Chicago, Wausau, Edgar, Fenwood, Stratford, Marshfield, Sheboygan and Marathon.
