Sazama, Margaret (Marriage – 18 Oct. 1953)

Miss Margaret Sazama, daughter of Mrs. Mayme Sazama and the late Joseph Sazama, Sr., of the town of Frankfort, Marathon county, became the bride of Richard A. Leick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Leick of the town of Cleveland in a double-ring ceremony performed in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby Saturday morning, Rev. Frank Brickl officiating.

Attending the bride were her sisters, Mary, as maid of honor, another sister, Dorothy, and the groom’s sister, Miss Mary Ann Leick, as bridesmaids. They wore gowns of net over taffeta with Chantilly-type lace jackets with three-quarter-length sleeves covering the strapless bodices, in robin’s egg blue, yellow and the shrimp shades. Their headpieces were bandeaus of matching lace with sequin trim and short veils tied at the back. All three wore rhinestone earrings, gifts of the bride, and carried cascade bouquets of white, yellow and bronze mums with green foliage and rainbow-colored ribbons.

Attending the groom were his brother, Kenneth Leick, Stratford, as best man, the bride’s brother, Joseph Sazama, and the groom’s brother Orville, as groomsmen.

The bride, who was escorted to the altar by Harry Svoboda, a family friend, wore a floor-length gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin. Its off-shoulder neckline was filled in with tulle, and the sleeves were long and tapered. A tiara of pearlized orange blossoms held her finger-tip veil and her ensemble was completed with the choker necklace and the rhinestone earrings, which were her gift from the groom. She carried a bouquet of white daisy-pompons and green foliage, tied with white satin ribbons.

Dinner and supper were served in St. Mary’s School gymnasium and an informal reception was held throughout the day at the home of the bride’s mother. Guests were from Chippewa Falls, Colby, Edgar, Wausau, Stratford, Glenwood City, New Richmond, Green Bay, Marshfield, Menasha and Lankin, N.D.

When the couple left for a three weeks’ motor trip through southern and eastern states, the bride was wearing a red rayon faille ensemble, trimmed with white angora. She is a graduate of the Colby High School and attended St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Marshfield. The bridegroom completed the farm short course at the University of Wisconsin, after graduating from the Stratford High School. They will make their home on his farm near Stratford.
