On the 11th day of March, 1891, Hannah Priebe and Albert Schroeder were united in marriage in Beaver Dam by the Rev. Mr. Jones of the Lutheran Church. Hannah Priebe, a native of Pomerania, Germany, came alone to America at the age of 18 years, and went directly to friends in Beaver Dam. Albert Schroeder also a native of Pomerania, Germany, came with other members of his family to America at the age of 16 years, and also settled near Beaver Dam.

Of the attendants present at their wedding; Ida Schroeder, Anna Schroeder, August Gehnrick, and Albert Gehnrick, only one, Mrs. Albert (Anna) Gehnrick, is now living.

Immediately following their marriage, they went to housekeeping on a farm near Beaver Dam, where they lived until 1900, at which time they moved to Clark County, purchasing a farm in the Town of Sherman. Here amid the usual joys and sorrows of life they cleared a fine farm, built good buildings, equipping them with modern conveniences, and raised a large family. While living there, they joined a small group of Lutherans in building the Salem Lutheran Church in Veefkind. Several of their children were confirmed in this church and six of them were married there.

In 1936, their son, Roy took over the farm work, and Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder have since lived in the village of Loyal in the home in which they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday. Decorations for the occasion were wedding bells, candles, and flowers. Open house was held from 2 to 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and over 70 friends called to offer congratulations.

At 4 o’clock, the Rev. J. C. Langholz, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, of which he read the golden wedding ceremony of the church. For his sermon, he chose the text from Samuel 7:12, “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.” The singing of several hymns was led by the couple’s five daughters. Following the services, supper was served to relatives and close friends.

Miss Adeline Lagatz, Stevens Point, a family friend, sang several songs over radio station W. S. H. R. during the forenoon dedicating them to Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder.

All of the Shroeder’s children were in attendance at the celebration. They are Mrs. August (Hattie) Rahm, Spencer; Mrs. Albert (Elsie) Mellenthin, Unity; Julius Schroeder, Spencer; Mrs. Munson (Florence) Vanderhoof, Spencer; Miss Freda Schroeder, Evanston, Ill.; Roy Schroeder, Spencer; Mrs. Walter (Linda) Krahn, Loyal; Bert Schroeder, Rockford, Ill. The Schroeders also have 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, many of whom attended the gathering.

The honor couple were the recipients of many congratulatory cards, flowers, and a purse of money.
