- Mokwa, Monica (25 OCT 1941)

A beautiful fall wedding was solemnized Oct. 25, 1941, at 8:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Milwaukee, when Miss Monica Mokwa, daughter of Mr. an Mrs. Joseph Mokwa, 3425 N. Bremen St., Milwaukee, became the bride of Walter Wolowik, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wolowik, Greenwood.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a brocaded satin, princess style dress with a very long train. Her veil was full length, the crown being of pearls and diamonds. She carried a large bouquet of Easter lilies and mums. She also wore a single strand of pearls, a gift from the groom.

For her attendants the bride chose Miss Helen Wolowik, and Miss Frances Olon. Their dresses were fashioned in a colonial style with long fitted bodices full shirred skirts, and full three-quarter length sleeves, pointed at the elbow. They were of Rasen Rose sharkskin. Their head pieces were of velvet, ribbon and ostrich feathers, modeled into flowers. They carried bouquets of large orchid mums, medium yellow mums and roses. The gifts from the bride were beautiful gold necklaces.

Attending the groom were William Wolowik, as best man, and Roman Grochowski as usher. They wore dark suits. Their boutonnieres were white carnations.

Mrs. Wolowik chose a brown crepe dress, with dull blue accessories. Mrs. Mokwa wore a black crepe dress. They wore corsages of orchid and white mums, and roses. The ribbon in the corsage matched the girls’ dresses.

A wedding breakfast, dinner and supper was served at the home of the bride’s parents for about thirty-five relatives.
