Karpinski, Agnes (21 JAN 1877 – 9 FEB 1942)

Last rites were conducted at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at ten o’clock Thursday morning, Feb. 12, 1942, for Mrs. Agnes Karpinski of the Town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.), who passed away at the Marshfield Hospital on Monday, Feb. 9th, 1942, Father Theo. Szczerbicki and Father F.A. Kulig officiated. The deceased had reached the age of 65 years and 18 days.

Agnes Szukalski was born in Radam, Ill, on Jan. 21, 1877. At the age of fifteen years she came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) with her parents and on Oct. 30 of the same year (1892) was united in marriage to Michael Bernard Deniszkiewicz, being the third couple to be married at St. Hedwig’s Church. They resided on a farm in the Town of Withee one year, and upon selling that, moved to a farm they purchased in the Town of Reseburg. On Feb. 14, 1894, a son Kazmier Charles, was born. Mr. Deniszkiewicz was killed the same year by a falling limb from a tree and was the third person to be buried in the St. Hedwig’s Parish Cemetery.

Mrs. Deniszkiewicz was married the following year to Marceli Karpinski, a widower with five children. They resided in Chicago for one years, where a son, Henry, was born, then returned to Thorp and their farm in Reseburg, where they labored hard until retirement in 1913 when they came to Thorp village. Mr. Karpinski died in 1925. The following year Mrs. Karpinski found it necessary to return to her farm.

After living there for a period of four years she became a victim of poison, a very reliable source pronouncing it of an arsenic nature. As a result Mrs. Karpinski was in an extremely weakened condition which made hr susceptible to other complications.

Surviving her are tow sons, Charles Deniszkiewicz and Henry Karpinski; one step-son, William Karpinski, three step-daughters, (Veronica) Mrs. Sam Borowoski, (Rose) Mrs. Joe Jasinski of Thorp, and (Mary) Mrs. Frank Krupski of Hoquiam, Wash.; one brother, Sam Szukalski of St. Mary’s , Idaho; one sister, Mrs. Eva Brodzinski of Menomonee, Mich., three half sisters, Mary Meniatte, Mrs. Harriet Ryterski and Martha Bandy of Port Austin, Mich.; four granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Interment was made in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor Zielinski, Frank Meske, Peter Zukowski, Joe Rogalski, Anton Lato and Ignatz Grobelny.
