Ebert, Walter G. (21 July 1906 – 1 May 1955)

Walter G. Ebert, a former resident of Colby, operator of the Loyal Hotel at Loyal and artificial insemination technician for the Tri-State Breeders Co-op, died at 4:00 A.M. Sunday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester at the age of 48 years. He had been ill for several months. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the West Side Evangelical and Reformed church at Greenwood, Rev. Charles Koch officiating, and burial was made in the West Side Cemetery at Greenwood.

Mr. Ebert was born on July 21, 1906, at Colby. He attended schools here, and, after graduating from high school, continued his studies for a time in Minneapolis. He married Norma Kuester on September 22, 1932, in Greenwood. Later the family lived on a farm north of Loyal in the town of Beaver for 13 years. At one time he served on the district school board.

They moved to Loyal in 1947 where they took over the operation of the hotel. Mr. Ebert, who had been a milk tester for many years, later took up technician’s duties for the Westby Breeders Co-op.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Lois, a student at Wisconsin State College in Whitewater, and Nan Jean and Karen, at home; a sister, Mrs. Ida Horn, of Greenwood; and a brother, Herman Ebert of Dover, Minn.
