Wiernasz, Florence (23 JUL 1942)

A very pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at 8 o’clock Thursday morning, July 23rd, 1942, when Miss Florence Wiernasz, daughter of Mrs. Andrew Wiernasz, became the bride of Lyle Asselin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Asselin, both of this village (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.). The ceremony was performed by Father S.R. Lengowski.

The bride who was given in marriage by her brother, Bennie Wiernasz, was beautifully attired in a white velvaray gown, with long train and fingertip veil. Her wedding bouquet was of white and pink roses, baby’s breath and swansonias.

Miss Marie Jacobson, first bridesmaid, and Miss Doris Weinberger, wore gowns of pink similar in design to that worn by the bride and carried bouquets of pink and white roses and baby’s breath.

The groom, his best man, Edward Polnaszek, and Bennie Wiernasz, wore tuxedos.

After the ceremony, a reception to the couple was held at the home of the bride’s mother, attended by relatives and friends.

The newlyweds arrived here on Monday after a short honeymoon in northern Wisconsin and will reside in apartments in the Wiernasz home.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Asselin are graduates of the Thorp schools and their host of friends join “The Courier” in extending best wishes for a long and prosperous journey through life. Mr. Asselin is with the Thorp bottling Works here.

Guests here to attend the wedding and festivities were Mrs. Martin Johnson of St. Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Klaar of Colby, Wis.
