Miessner, Agatha (Marriage – 26 Feb. 1949)

In a candlelight wedding late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 26, in Zion Lutheran church at Colby, Miss Agatha Miessner and Lawrence Gudenschwager, both of Milwaukee, repeated vows before the Rev. O. H. Hoffmann, with a background of organ music played by Miss Jean Coull.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph O. Miessner of Unity, and parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Gudenschwager, of Loganville.

The bride wore a lovely period gown of white velvet that featured a long train. She used her mother’s full-length illusion wedding veil attached to a white velvet halo headdress and carried a shower bouquet of white roses.

She was attended by three bridal aides, Miss Mildred Miessner of Milwaukee, Mrs. Orrlan Gudenschwager of Edgerton, and Mrs. Clarence Miessner of Edgar. The maid of honor was attired in a forest green velvet gown and the two bridesmaids were in chartreuse velvet dresses, all designed like the bride’s. They carried bouquets of yellow roses and carnations and wore plumbed halo headpieces and mitts matching their gowns.

The bride’s niece, Kathleen Ann Berens, of Marathon, was the flower girl and her brother, Dennis, carried the rings on a white velvet pillow. Kathleen wore a dainty white velvet gown, matching mitts and a white headdress. She carried a rounded bouquet of white carnations.

Attending the groom were Arlan Gudenschwager of Edgar, Wilfred Riessner of Edgar, and Robert Rathkamp of Milwaukee.

Following the ceremony performed at 4 o’clock, a wedding dinner was served in the church parlor. Later the couple was congratulated at a reception held at the home of the bride’s parents.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gudenschwager of Loganville, Mr. and Mrs. Orrlan Gudenschwager of Edgerton; Robert Gathkamp, John Jepson, Gene Bohr, Miss Angeline Kowalksi, Miss Lucille Isermann, Jerry Landteau and Miss Mildred Miessner, of Milwaukee, and Marvin Miessner, Miss Lorna Miessner, Miss Bernice Miessner and Albert Suedmeyer, of New Minden, Ill.

The couple will be at home to friends at 1030 N. Jefferson St., Milwaukee.
