Kleinstick, Louis George (10 Dec. 1905 – 31 May 1949)

Louis Kleinstick of Abbotsford died at the Marshfield hospital at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the age of 43 years of injuries received when he drove his car into a truck on Highway 29 one mile east of Abbotsford at 8:20 a.m. that morning. An ambulance from Abbotsford rushed the critically injured man to the hospital. He had suffered a severe skull fracture and a crushed chest.

Marathon county traffic authorities said that the one and one-half ton truck, driven by Emery Schmitt, age 20, of Colby, route 1, and owned by Merlin Schjoneman of Colby, was proceeding from the south out of a private driveway when Kleinstick, driving east down a slight grade, struck the left side of the truck just behind the cab.

Kleinstick’s car, a 1929 model, was demolished as it was rammed half-way under the truck. Damage to the truck, place at $75, was confined to the under-carriage and van portion of the vehicle.

Schmitt was not injured.

The accident followed a long Memorial Day week-end in which there were no serious traffic mishaps in Marathon county.

Funeral services for Kleinstick will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Zink Funeral Home in Abbotsford.

Funeral services for George Louis Kleinstick of Abbotsford, who died Tuesday of injuries suffered earlier in the day in an automobile accident east of Abbotsford, were held Saturday afternoon at the Zink Funeral Home in Abbotsford. John Neuendorf of Medford officiated and burial was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Mr. Kleinstick was born Dec. 10, 1905, in Colby. He grew up in this area and received his education in Colby schools. On May 21, 1927, he married Vivian Stewart. In 1927 he moved to Abbotsford, where he had been a painter and paperhanger for several years.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Shirley) Grocker of Milwaukee, Mrs. Orville (Betty) Van Sleet of Abbotsford and Claryce Kleinstick, at home. Three sisters and four brothers also survive – Miss Elda Kleinstick of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. August Pals of Waukesha, Mrs. Selma Edes of Werchate, Wash., Richard Kleinstick of Edgar, Otto Kleinstick of Gary, Ind., and Herbert Kleinstick, address unknown. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
