Hoesly, John E. (3 SEP 1947 – 18 FEB 2008)

John E. Hoesly, 60, Spencer, passed away at his home on Monday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2008.

Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Jon Kolbrak officiated. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield, at the funeral home following the service.

John E. Hoesly was born on Sept. 3, 1947, to Elmer and Alice (nee Sollberger) Hoesly. After graduating from Marshfield Senior High in 1965, he went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He left school to serve in the U.S. Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam as a sergeant until 1971. He finished his schooling after his service at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1972. He worked for 15 years at the Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield and then for a short time with Graham Manufacturing. He then started work with the U.S. Postal Service in 1989 as rural carrier for the Loyal Branch. He met his future wife, Rhonda M. Stange, in August 1972, and it was love at first sight. They were married that March 24, 1973, in Colby. They have three children; Wayde (Megan Kopf), Gavin (April Schmidt) and Darby (Brian Felhofer). He was proud and loved to brag about them. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time outdoors and at the family cabin. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Club. His memory is carried on in life by his loving wife of 34 years; his three children; his father, Elmer Hoesly; sister, Carol Fuqua; and other family members and many friends.

He was preceded to the afterlife by his mother, Alice.

His spirit will forever wathch and guard us.

A memorial has been set up with placement at a later date.
