Bonazza, Caroline R. (19 JAN 1943)

A quiet wedding took place Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1943, at Cleveland, Ohio, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church when Miss Caroline R. Bonazza, Cleveland, became the bride of John W. Gummerson, T.M. 3rd USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Gummerson of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.).

The bride wore a dress of white wool with powder blue accessories and wore a corsage of orchids. The matron of honor was the bride’s cousin, Miss Val Dickerson. Her suit was of powder blue with beige accessories, and she wore a corsage of orchids. The best man was James Gummerson, a brother of the groom.

Folowing the service a dinner was served for the immediate members of the contracting families.

The groom graduated from the Owen High School in 1938, and then attended Eau Claire Teachers College fro one year. From there he went to Dunwoody Institute at Minneapolis for a year and to continue his education attended the Addressograph School at Cleveland, Ohio. He had been employed at the Ford Payroll Dept. in Detroit until last July when he entered the Naval service, and graduated from the Great Lake Torpedo school, Jan. 12 of this year.

The young couple arrived in Owen Friday of last week, and Sunday a reception was held at the groom’s parent’s home, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Gummerson, and a buffet supper was served to about forty guests. They were presented with a War Savings Bond and several nice gifts.

Tuesday they left for Chicago and Cleveland, after which Mr. Gummerson will go to Seattle, Wash., where he will attend advance torpedo school, and his wife will make her home with her father in Cleveland.
