Soft Candlelight and flowers formed the background for the wedding of Miss Jean Marie Turney, daughter of Mrs. Prudence Turney, and Lt. William R. Wollum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wollum, all of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).

The Reverend Wesley Hotchkiss heard the exchange of vows before the altar of the First Congregational Church, in Owen, in the presence of relatives and friends. The ceremony took place at 8:00 Monday evening, April 19, 1943.

The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Lawrence Richardson of Menomonie, was lovely, gowned in white taffeta, fashioned with sweetheart neckline, three quarter length sleeves, and large hearts decorating the full skirt. An illusion fingertip veil and a string of pearls, a gift from the groom, completed the ensemble. Her bridal bouquet was of white carnations and stocks with streamers.

Miss Ruth Alban of Chippewa Falls, cousin of the bride, was her maid of honor. She wore blue taffeta and carried a nosegay of spring flowers.

Lt. Wollum was attended by Walter Stamstad of Owen. The ushers were Douglas Graham and Eugene Koplitz. The groom wore his army dress uniform. His attendants wore dark suits with carnation boutonnieres.

Mrs. Prudence Turney, mother of the bride, witnessed her daughters wedding gowned in navy blue and white with matching accessories and a corsage of roses and sweet peas.

Mrs. Henry Wollum, mother of the groom, also wore a costume of navy blue with matching accessories and a corsage of roses and sweet peas.

Preceding the ceremony, Miss Rowene Gabriel sang, “Because” and after the service she sang “At Dawning.” She was accompanied by Mrs. A.M. Wilson, who played the wedding marches.

A reception for relatives and friends followed in the church parlors. A three tier wedding cake served as centerpiece of the table.

Lt. and Mrs. Wollum left on a wedding trip following the reception. For going away, the bride wore an ensemble of blue and white.

Mrs. Wollum is a graduate of Owen High School and will graduate from Stout Institute at Menomonie in June.

Lt. Wollum also graduated fro Owen High School and has recently received his commission in the United States Army and will be stationed at Camp Hahn, Calif.
