John E. Hoesly

SPENCER -- John E. Hoesly, 60, of Spencer, passed away at his home Monday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2008.

Family will receive relatives and friends from noon until service time Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Rembs Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Jon Kolbrak officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home following the services by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield.

John was born Sept. 3, 1947, to Elmer and Alice (Sollberger) Hoesly. After graduating from Marshfield Senior High in 1965, John went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He left school to serve in the U.S. Army in 1969, and served in Vietnam as a sergeant until 1971. He finished his schooling after his service at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business in 1972. He met his future wife in August and it was love at first sight. They were married March 24, 1973.

He worked for 15 years at the Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield and then for a short time with Graham Manufacturing. He then started work with the U.S. Postal Service in 1989 as rural carrier for the Loyal branch.

They have three children, Wayde (Megan Kopf), Gavin (April Schmidt) and Darby (Brian Felhofer). John was proud and loved to brag about them. John was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time outdoors and at the family cabin. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Club.

His memory is carried on in life by his loving wife of 34 years, his three children, his father, Elmer Hoesly, sister, Carol Fuqua and other family members and many friends.

He is preceded to the afterlife by his mother Alice. John's spirit will forever watch and guard us.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been set up with placement at a later date.

Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
