Laabs, Elvera Elizabeth (Marriage - 14 OCT 1941)

At two o’clock Tuesday afternoon Miss Elvera Elizabeth Laabs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Laabs of Dorchester, exchanged wedding vows with Albert August Schultz of Curtiss in a ceremony read by the Rev. J. Brandt at St. Peter’s Lutheran church at Dorchester. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz of Curtiss.

The bride’s gown was of lustrous white slipper satin trimmed with Chantilly lace and fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, leg-o-mutton sleeves, and a long train. Her entrained veil and blusher veil were edged in deep lace and caught to a headdress of seed pearls. She wore a pearl necklace and carried a bouquet of pompons and white lilies tied with a white satin bow.

Mrs. H. C. Klessig of Colby, sister of the bride, attended as matron of honor wearing a Rheo blue slipper satin gown with a lace bodice, sweetheart neckline, full puffed sleeves, and a full skirt. Her matching shoulder-length veil was held by a cornet of flowers, and she too, wore a pearl necklace. Mrs. Clarence Schultz of Curtiss was bridesmaid, and she appeared in a light fuchsia gown similar in style to that worn by Mrs. Klessig. Each carried a bouquet of mixed flowers.

Clarence Schultz, brother of the groom, was best man, and H. C. Klessig was groomsman. Mrs. J. Hubeck and Mrs. E. Erickson sang “O Promise Me.”

The bride’s mother attended the ceremony in a black corded romaine dress with a satin bodice and corded romaine jacket. Black accessories and a shoulder corsage of mixed flowers completed her ensemble. The groom’s mother was attired in black with a mixed flower corsage.

A 6:45 o’clock dinner was served to members of the immediate families at the Block Hotel in Dorchester, where bouquets of cut flowers and a three-layer wedding cake furnished the decorations. A wedding dance was held at Hinke’s hall at Dorchester on Wednesday night with music furnished by Emil’s Dance band.

Mr. and Mrs. Schultz are now on a week’s wedding trip to northern Wisconsin, and they will make their home with the groom’s parents upon their return. The bride was graduated from the Dorchester high school in 1935, and Mr. Schultz is engaged in farming.

Out of town guests at the wedding included the following: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kasper and sons of Unity; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Klessig and children, LaVonne and Gerald, of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rosenquist and daughter, Jeanette, of Owen; and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kuegler of Stetsonville.
