Leffel, Joanne M. (Gierl) (22 Oct. 1932 - 15 Feb. 2008)

Joanne M. Leffel, Edgar, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 20 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Norman Boneck will preside.

Joanne was born October 22, 1932, in Colby, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Laurina (Schill) Gierl.

On August 31, 1955, she married Leo Leffel in Colby, he survives.

The Leffel’s farmed in the Town of Frankfort and she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, prior to their retirement.

After their retirement, they moved to Tomahawk and she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic, Church, Tomahawk.

Two years ago, they move to the Edgar area. She was a member of the National Catholic, Society of Foresters and St. John Catholic Church, Edgar.

Joanne is survived by her husband Leo Leffel, Edgar; her children, Dianne (Tim) Filyaw, Wenatchee, WA, Dan Leffel, Gary (Lynn) Leffel, all of Stratford, Jaclyn (Brian) Luttropp, Peggy Ann (Mathew) Venne, all of Tomahawk, Scott Leffel, Menomonie; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wilbur (Ginger) Gierl, Wausau, Robert (Arlene) Gierl, MI, Elaine (Gerald) Hebert, Neshkoro, and Kenneth (Judith) Gierl, Medford.

Peterson-Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, is helping the family with arrangements.
