Sazama, Janet (Marriage – 6 June 1951)

In a double-ring ceremony performed Wednesday morning, June 6th, in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating at the marriage ceremony and at the nuptial high mass, Miss Janet Sazama became the bride of John M. Brill. St. Mary’s choir, of which the groom is a member, sang the mass with Mrs. Alois Gabriel at the organ. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sazama and the groom is the son of Mrs. Rose Brill of the town of Hull. Miss Joyce Novak of Cresco, Iowa, friend of the bride, was maid of honor and the groom’s two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ann Bailey and Miss Betty Brill of Oshkosh, served as bridesmaids. The groom was attended by James Dorst, Ronald Schmidt and James Sazama, cousin of the bride.

The bride approached the altar on the white carpeted aisle, and was presented in marriage by her father. Her gown of white slipper satin was fashioned with fitted bodice with high round neckline of net, long tapering sleeves. A V-shaped panel of lace, narrow at the waistline and wide at the hemline, extended down the center of the skirt. This was repeated in the center back and ended in the train. The full gathered skirt swept into a long cathedral train.

Her full-length veil of English illusion was edged with wide lace and caught to a beaded tiara. She carried a bouquet of white roses centered with an orchid.

All three bridal attendants wore identically fashioned gowns of nylon marquisette over taffeta in yellow orchid and Nile green, respectively.

They were fashioned with fitted bodices, high round neckline with a double row of marquisette ruffles forming off-the-shoulder effects. The full gathered skirts had rosettes of double ruffling at the sides. They wore matching tulle picture hats and carried flower sprays of yellow, pink and green carnations with ribbons to match their gowns.

Rita, Ruth and Terry Schilling, triplet children of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schilling of Wausau, served as flower girls and ring bearer. The girls wore dresses of white satin with lace ruffles bordering the neck yoke and encircling the full skirts. Terry carried the rings on a heart-shaped pillow.

Raymond Kiefer, brother-in-law of the groom, and Ralph Andrew, ushered.

Dinner and supper and a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. About 450 guests were present during the day. In the evening a dance was held.

The groom is a graduate of the Colby High School class of 1945. The bride was graduated in 1948 from Colby High School and also is a graduate of the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology, St. Paul, Minn. She was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, West Bend, as laboratory technician. After a wedding trip to the West Coast, they will reside on the groom’s farm in the Town of Hull.

Guests were present from Milwaukee, Stratford, Wausau, Marathon, Oshkosh, Waukesha, Abbotsford, Stetsonville, Dorchester, Shawano, Rozellville, Athens, Milan, Spencer, Edgar and Jackson, Mich.
