Salter, Maxine Marie (Marriage – 18 Aug. 1951)

Miss Maxine Marie Salter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theo. R. Salter of Marshfield, formerly of Unity, and Donald Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson of Rhinelander were united in marriage at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Marshfield Saturday afternoon, Rev. G. M. Krueger officiating. Two solos were sung by Miss Arla Ott, “The Lord’s Prayer” and “O Perfect Love.” Miss Georgette Walther of Sturgeon Bay was maid of honor and the Misses Betty and Sally Salter, the bride’s sisters, were bridesmaids. Jorie Lueloff of Milwaukee, a cousin, was junior bridesmaid. Attending the groom were Kendall Finger of Rhinelander as best man and Pfc. Wayne Salter of Camp McCoy, the bride’s cousin, and Douglas Sutton of Rhinelander, a cousin of the groom, as ushers. DeWaine Olson of Rhinelander was junior aide for his older brother.

Dainty rose point lace over satin formed the snug-fitting bodice topped by a marquisette yoke of the floor-length gown selected by the bride. Lace inserts added a note of décor to the sheer marquisette over satin skirt. Her finger-tip veil of imported illusion net billowed from a lace cap outlined with clusters of seed pearls. She held a cascade arrangement of white gladioli and Sweetheart roses.

Dainty full-skirted gowns of rayon net detailed with velveray flower print designs fashioned the gowns of white, yellow and blue, worn by the bridal attendants. When the brief self-tied boleros were removed, attractive strapless dancing frocks were revealed. Completing the outfits worn by the bridal aides were large picture hats and nosegays of sweetheart roses and pompoms with the exception of Miss Lueloff who wore a wreath of daisies in her hair.

The bride’s mother wore a pink lace dress and a pink feather hat with black accessories while the groom’s mother chose a navy outfit with matching accessories. Clusters of gardenias were pinned at the shoulder of the frocks worn by the two mothers.

A buffet luncheon was served at the Hotel Charles, Marshfield, where a reception was held from 3:00 to 5:00 o’clock. The couple left on a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin.

Mrs. Olson attended Wisconsin State Teachers College at Whitewater for a year and one-half and is employed in the office of Porter Greenwood, accountant. Her husband, a veteran of 16 months service in the armed forces, graduated from the Whitewater college in 1951. He accepted a position to teach commercial subjects in the Granton High School this coming school year. After Sept. 1, they will reside at 511 Vine street in Marshfield.

Out-of-town guests were from Rhinelander, Colby, Unity, Bloomington, Milwaukee, Neillsville, Granton, Antigo, Oconto, Sparta, Stevens Point, Chicago, Ill., Woodstock, Ill., and St. Paul, Minn.
