First Evang. and Reformed To Observe Anniversary

The congregation of First Evangelical and Reformed church of Colby will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the dedication of its present house of worship this Sunday, September 2nd. Two worship services will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. Rev. Siegfried A. Schmechen, who was pastor of the church when the present house of worship was dedicated on Sunday, October 5th, 1941, and now pastor of St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church in Chesterfield, Missouri, will bring the message in the 10:00 A.M. worship service. Rev. Julius C. Rosenau of Wausau, president of the North Wisconsin Synod, will preach in the 8:00 P.M. worship service. A pot-luck dinner for all members and visitors will be served at the parish hall at 12:00 noon.

The church sanctuary has been newly decorated under the supervision of the following committee members: Elmore Dehne, chairman, Walter Loos, Justine Gray, Clayton Wright and Alphonse Herrmann. The floral decorations are in charge of Mrs. Margaret W. Puhlmann, Miss Rena Bauer and Mrs. Pauline Zillmann. On the committee on invitations are serving Mrs. Hermina Herrmann, Mrs. Louis Young and Mrs. Paul Draeger, Sr. The pot-luck dinner will be supervised by Mrs. William Pacholke, Sr. The general anniversary committee consists of N. L. Dessloch, chairman, Mrs. O. H. Davis, Mrs. Hermina Herrmann, Mrs. Frank A. Hunt, Richard Herrmann and Rev. Franz Paul Puhlmann, The official host and hostess for Sunday morning and evening will be N. L. Dessloch, president of the First church, and Mrs. O. H. Davis, president of the Women’s Guild.

A capacity attendance is expected for both the 10:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. worship services. The members and pastor of First church cordially invite their many friends and co-operative neighbors to come and worship with them on this auspicious occasion.
