Surnames: Ehlert, Bains, Barrie, Bogumill, West, Corcoran Source: THORP COURIER (Thorp, Clark County, Wis.) 02/11/1943 Ehlert, Dawn M. #2 (23 JAN 1943) Miss Dawn Marie Ehlert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Ehlert of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Richard Reiland Bains, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Bains of Birmingham, Alabama, were united in marriage at Gesu church in Milwaukee at 10:00 a.m., Jan. 23, 1943. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Father Muntsch, S.J. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a white gown of slipper satin with a long train, ornamented by lace insets. Her fingertip veil was of illusion veiling and she carried a bouquet of white roses and sweet peas, with orchids in the center. The maid of honor was Miss Ann Bogumill of Thorp, a high school classmate of the bride’s. She wore a white net dress with sweetheart neckline, three-quarter length sleeves, and blue hat and slippers. Miss Dorothy Bains, sister of the groom, and Miss Ardath Ehlert, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaids. They wore similar dresses of pink moiré taffeta with matching hats and slippers. their bouquets were of pink and white carnations. The groom, attired in a stroller suit, was attended by Robert Meade Barrie of Milwaukee. The ushers were Robert West of Chicago, a student at Northwestern University, and Thomas Corcoran of Milwaukee, a student at Marquette University. The best man and ushers also wore stroller suits. The bride’s mother wore a turquoise silk suit with brown accessories, and a corsage of gardenias. The groom’s mother, who, with her daughter, Miss Dorothy, came from Birmingham, Alabama for the occasion wore an orchid wool suit with brown accessories and a gardenia corsage. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to the wedding party, and the parents of the bride and groom in the blue room of the Astor Hotel. In the afternoon, a reception was held in the Roof Room of the Astor Hotel, which was attended by about fifty relatives and friends. Out of town guests attending were Messrs. And Mmes. Geo. Baldwin, Gillett, Wis., Karl Baldwin, Appleton, Wis., Geo. Reiland, Wis. Rapids, Fr. Reiland, Forest Lake, Ill., Arthur Reiland, Mundarin, Ill., Geo. Weiland, Chicago, Ill., Chas. Schuebel, Stanley, Wis., and Misses Kathleen and Elaine Larson, Thorp. (The last paragraph of my copy was unreadable) |
