Binning, Mr./Mrs. Herbert (50th Anniv. – 28 Sept. 1953)

Surrounded by their family, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Binning appropriately celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Mr. Binning, who is 74 years old, was born in England and came to the United States with his parents when a young man. Mrs. Binning, age 70, was born in the Town of Unity. They were married at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lydickson by the Rev. Philpot, a Methodist minister. The attendants were James Holmes and Mabel Binning.

Mr. and Mrs. Binning have six children, Kenneth, Earl and Melford, Minneapolis; Floyd and Clifford, Unity; and Mrs. Rudy Anderson, Marshfield. Mr. and Mrs. Binning, their children and all of their families were present at the morning service at the Methodist Church of which the Binnings are members. Special mention was made of the occasion at the service and a solo by Miss Rae Ann Loughead was dedicated to the honor couple.

Tables were set for the dinner in the basement and garage which were decorated with aqua, gold and white streamers and wedding bells. A table for 14 was set for Mr. and Mrs. Binning, their children, their sons, wives and their daughter’s husband. Small tables were set for 32 dinner guests and a table for 17 children. Serving for the adults were Mrs. Tom Loughead, Mrs. Alfred Johnson, Mrs. Corwin Dallman and Mrs. Roy Justman Jr. Serving for the children were Bonnie Binning and Nancy Case. Each of the dinner guests and the family and those serving were given corsages.

A large wedding cake baked by Mrs. Russell Andrews, of Spencer, decorated in gold and white, centered the table occupied by the family. The decorations throughout the house were gold and white. Hanging from the walls in the rooms where the dinner was served were the wedding pictures of 50 years ago. An old fashioned charivari with noise makers which consisted of pots and pans, dust pans and kitchen implements brought back old memories.

Mrs. Binning has been an active member of the Ladies Aid Society for over 40 years and a member of the Enterprise Homemakers Club for many years. She is still active in both organizations. The Binnings lived on a farm 48 years and two years ago built and moved into a home in the village.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lydickson and Mrs. Pickruhn, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Schmitz and daughter, Betty, Mrs. Cora Binning, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Binning and family, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Binning and family of Oakfield; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schultz, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Case and family, and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Binning, Fond du Lac; and the Rev. and Mrs. Schall and children of Spencer.

There were about 100 guests who were served cafeteria style.

The Binnings were presented with many gifts including a purse of money. Their grand children gave them a dinner service for six.

The Register joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for many more years of happy wedded life together.
