Creed, Lula Dell (23 Mar. 1883 – 23 Oct. 1952)

Lulu Dell Creed, 69, a lifetime resident of this area, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at 8 P.M. October 23, four days after suffering a stroke.

The funeral was held Monday, October 27th at the Lulloff Funeral Home with burial in the Colby cemetery. The Rev. Claude Vander Stoep officiated.

Pallbearers were Mollen Talcott, Melvin J. Tennis, Clarence Buetsch, John W. Johnson, Sewell Cook and William Schultz.

“The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” were sung by Mrs. Dorothy Fuller accompanied by Mrs. Gladys Loughead at the piano.

Mrs. Creed, nee Lula Pettit, was born here March 23, 1883. Her marriage to William N. Creed took place November 4, 1904 at Chippewa Falls. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Nyole, who is the postmaster at Unity; five daughters, Mrs. Lester (Evetta) Cendt, Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. Geo (Lela) Korntved, Clinton, Ia.; Mrs. Geo. (Virginia) Stauner, Wausau; Mrs. Charles (Necia) Kubat, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Charles (Ramona) Derby, of Marshfield; and a brother, Marshall Pettit, Harrison, Idaho. A twin sister, Mrs. Lela Stinson, died in 1947.

Mr. Creed is widely known for his many years of service on the Clark County Agricultural Committee and as a former president of the Clark County Fair Association.

Charles Creed of Green Bay and Homer Creed of King were present at the funeral as well as friends and members of the Rebekahs from Neillsville, Wausau, Medford, Marshfield, Minneapolis, Greenwood, Abbotsford, Owen, Ogema, and other surrounding communities.
