Gall, Joseph F. (20 March 1873 – 20 Jan. 1944)

Funeral services for Joseph F. Gall, 70, of Neillsville, were held Monday, January 24, at the Jaster Funeral home. The Rev. George W. Longenecker, a neighbor and friend of the deceased, was the officiating pastor. Burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Mr. Gall passed away January 20, at the Neillsville hospital, where he had been taken only a short time before. Death was attributed to a heart ailment and complications.

Mr. Gall was born March 20, 1873, at Newburg, Ozaukee County, Wis., the son of Joseph and Amelia Gall. In 1881 the family moved to Clark County taking up their residence at Globe, where Mr. Gall grew to manhood. He attended the home school and worked with his father on the home farm.

In 1907 he was married to Miss Amelia Bailing at the Globe Lutheran Church. They came to Neillsville to live and have made this city their home. Two children were born to them, Arthur of Spencer, and Evelyn, Mrs. Arman Gerhardt who resides in Owen. Mr. Galls is survived by his wife, the two children and three grandchildren.

He is also survived by five brothers and four sisters. The brothers are Theodore and Edward Gall, Neillsville; William Gall, Loyal; Michael Gall, Eau Claire; and Alvin Gall, Janesville. The sisters are: Margaret, Mrs. Fred Bruley, and Minnie, Mrs. Edward Gault, Neillsville; Anna, Mrs. Arthur Schwamb, Tioga; and Clara, Mrs. Thomas Crocker, Wausau.

Mr. Gall was well known among his friends and associates for his industry and honesty. His near neighbors could almost tell the time of day by his punctual leaving for, and coming home from his work, side from his work to which he was always faithful, his home and garden were his chief interests. He was an expert gardener, seeming to known just how and when to plant the different crops for the best results. He was a kind neighbor and friends, and his word was a good as a bond.

Pallbearers were Nolie Blau, Lee Allen, John Durst, Wayne Potter, Nick Schaefer, and Gale Hiles.
