Thorp Happenings

Here are some of the happenings of the Thorp community, as gleaned from the Thorp Courier:

R. J. Kriese has sold his residence in Thorp to Frank Igras of Worden.

Leon Bogumill recently made a business trip to Corpus Christi, Texas, and visited there with Lieut. And Mrs. Justin Rosemeyer, the later being the former Mary Ann Huls.

Private Ernest I. Piper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Piper, is recovering from an appendicitis operation at Battle Creek, Mich.

Lt. Irene Kulig has gone to Maxwell Field, Montgomery, Ala., where she is in training.

Robert C. Herman is attending a navel radar school at San Francisco.

Jack LaGasse is in army training at Ft. Sheridan.

Mrs. Ed. Witt is sick.

Mrs. Theresa Bauerfeind has returned to Thorp after spending 4 ½ months at Anaconda, Mont., with her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bauerfield.

William J. Klouda has purchased from John G. Bogumill a modern home located south of the high school.

Seaman Walter Koltis has returned to his post in New York City, after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Koltis.

Alex Neiman is now employed in the navy yards at Seattle.

Operating expenses of the Thorp Public library for the past year were $1,025.52. The disbursements included $262.33 for book and periodicals and $560 for salaries and services. The report did not give the circulation of books.
