Widmer, Lucille (Marriage – 16 Jan. 1954)

On Saturday afternoon, January 16 at 1:30 o’clock, Miss Lucille Widmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Widmer, Spencer, became the bride of Clifford Ammons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ammons, Sr. of Spencer.

The Rev. Paul Mall performed the nuptial service at 1:30 in St. John’s Lutheran Church at Riplinger.

A lace Peter Pan collar and net yoke topped the lace bodice of the bridal gown which had long sleeves of lace. Tiers of nylon net formed the front panel of the skirt of lace which extended into a train. Seed pearls and net orange blossoms formed the headpiece which secured the finger-tip veil. Red roses and white pompoms composed the bridal bouquet.

Miss Arlene Widmer was maid of honor for her sister and Miss Janet Seefeldt and Miss Joanne Scheer, friends of the bride, were bridal aides. Gowns featuring lace bodices and jackets with skirts of net over taffeta fashioned the attire of the bridal attendants whose colonial bouquets were of pink carnations and white pompoms.

Judy Widmer, sister of the bride, as flower girl, wore a colonial type dress with hoop skirt of white net over taffeta. Her bouquet was of red roses and white pompoms. Ronald Bruesewitz, friend of the groom, attended as ringbearer.

Attending the groom were friends, William Marten, Jr., as best man, and Kenneth Kasper and a cousin of the bride, Richard Kops, as groomsmen. Uncle of the groom, Gerald Ammons and Ed Cammers, seated the guests.

After the service a reception and dinner were held in the church basement for 150 guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Ammons will reside in California, where he is serving in the U.S. Marines.

The Register joins their local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
