Wieland, Shirley Mae (Marriage – 17 Nov. 1954)

Miss Shirley Mae Wieland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Wieland, Spencer, and Donald Kaiser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Kaiser, Stratford, were united in marriage Wednesday, November 17, at Christ the King Catholic Church. The 9 a.m. ceremony was performed by the Rev. James Sheridan.

The bride was attired in a white gown of Chantilly lace over net and taffeta with a tiered lace skirt. A Peter Pan collar accented with pearls and lace sleeves were features of the bodice. The finger-tip veil was held in place by a crown of colored sequins and pearls. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, red roses and stephanotis.

Miss Esther Kaiser, Stratford, cousin of the groom, served as maid of honor dressed in a cotillion blue gown of net over taffeta with a lace over taffeta jacket. White carnations and tea roses were her flowers.

Bridesmaids, Mrs. Cecil McQuire, Misses Agnesann and Veronica Kaiser, all sisters of the groom, were gowned in shrimp colored frocks styled like the maid of honor’s. Their costumes were completed by crown hats trimmed with velvet leaves, rhinestones and veiling, and bouquets of white carnations and tea roses.

Marietta Kaiser, another sister of the groom, served as flower girl, dressed in a net over taffeta frock fashioned with a net tunic and taffeta bodice accented with seed pearls and rhinestones. She carried a basket of white carnations and small red roses. Charles Wieland, brother of the bride, was the ring bearer.

Lester Kaiser served as his brother’s best man, and Cecil McQuire, brother-in-law of the groom, Ronald Wieland, brother of the bride, and Edward Schneider, cousin of the groom, were groomsmen.

Ushers were Vernal Weis, and Gerald Hebert, a cousin of the groom.

Mrs. Wieland viewed her daughter’s wedding attired in a cotillion blue dress, while the groom’s mother wore a gray dress. Both had corsages of white carnations and dusty pink roses.

The wedding breakfast was served in the church hall followed by a reception from one until eight o’clock which included a 4 o’clock supper. Invitations were issued to 220 guests.

The Register joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
