Braun, Shirley Ann (Marriage – 5 Feb. 1944)

Miss Shirley Ann Braun, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Braun of Greenwood, was united in marriage to Irvin Gerald Humke, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Humke, Sr., also of Greenwood in a wedding ceremony performed in the Zion Reformed parsonage here on Saturday afternoon, February 5, at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. B. M. Fresenborg officiated. The young couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson of Owen and Miss Ruth Humke of Greenwood, brother-in-law and sister of the groom, and Arvin Liebzeit, Greenwood, a cousin of the bride.

The bride chose a light pink wool suit trimmed with orchids for her wedding attire and wore brown accessories and a gardenia corsage.

Following the service at 6 o’clock dinner was served to the immediate relatives and closet friends at the home of the bride’s parents, decorated with pink, blue and white streamers and a large wedding bell.

Covers were laid for 35 at the table, centered with a large wedding cake. A dance was held at the Merry Ol’ Gardens that evening.

Both young people were graduated from the Greenwood High School. Mr. Humke attended the University of Wisconsin and his bride was graduated from the school of beauty culture at Eau Claire. Previous to her marriage she had been employed at the Barr Beauty Shop in Greenwood for 1 ˝ years.

They will reside with the groom’s parents on their farm near Greenwood, which Mr. Humke helps his father operate.
