Obit: Creed, Nina (1879 – 1958)
Surnames: Creed, Langdon, Bevier, Alcorn Source: Marathon County Register (Unity, Clark County, Wis.) 08/22/1958 Creed, Nina (21 Dec. 1879 – 11 Aug. 1958) Funeral services were held Friday morning, August 15th at 10:00 o’clock in the Grand Army Home Chapel at King, Wisconsin for Mrs. Homer D. Creed. The Rev. Charles M. Langdon officiated and burial was made in the Colby cemetery beside other members of the Creed family. Mrs. Creed was born in Colby, Wisconsin December 21, 1879. She passed away Monday, August 11 at 10 p.m. in the Grand Army Hospital, where she had been a bed patient, the victim of a paralytic stroke, which afflicted her while they were living in the Hospital Anner, about two years ago. Her mind was keen and alert until she went into a coma a day or two before her death. Mr. Creed, a Spanish War veteran and Miss Nina Bevier of Colby, Wis. were married at Colby, October 1, 1902. For some time, about 1915, Mr. and Mrs. Creed were proprietors of a restaurant in Spencer, after Spencer became a railroad town. They went to the Grand Army Home October 25, 1944 from Unity, where they were residing with Mr. Creed’s mother, who was a Civil War widow. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Marshfield; the Daughters of Union Veterans, King; The Spanish Veterans Auxiliary, King; Rebekah Lodge, Unity; and an honorary member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Unity. Surviving beside her husband are a son, Jack Creed, Richmond, California and a daughter, Amy Creed Alcorn of Mason City, Iowa; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alcorn arrived from Iowa on Tuesday and Jack Creed arrived on Wednesday from California for the funeral. Homer’s brother, Charles Creed of Green Bay also attended the final rites.
