Binning, Mr./Mrs. Henry (50th Anniv. – 19 June 1960)

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Binning observed their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday. A noon dinner was served to 150 guests in the dining hall of Trinity Lutheran Church. A reception was held from 2 to 5 o’clock.

Mrs. Binning pinned a white orchid corsage on her dress for the occasion and her husband wore a yellow carnation boutonniere. They received a money tree as a gift from their children and grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Binning were married on June 20, 1910, by the Rev. R. Prescot in the parsonage of the Colby Methodist Church. They lived on a farm near Unity for 30 years, then moved to a smaller farm near here. In May of this year they moved into the village. Mr. Binning is custodian of the Unity grade school.

Four sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Binning, Lester and Robert of Marshfield; Russell, Pecatonica, Ill.; and Ray of Unity. They have nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Binning was born at Decatur, Iowa, April 25, 1883. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Binning who lived near Fond du Lac. He received his education in Fond du Lac schools. The family then moved to Unity and he was employed in the Fritz sawmill.

He has served on the Town Board and is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He has two brothers, Herbert Binning, Unity and Dr. Robert Binning, Fond du Lac; and two sisters, Mrs. Walter Schultz, Milwaukee and Mrs. Mable Pyatt of Corvalis, Oregon.

Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nelson were the parents of Mrs. Binning, the former Borghild Nelson. She was born at Unity January 23, 1890 and was educated in Unity schools. She was organist at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Both she and her husband are in good health.

Besides the many local relatives and friends attending the event, out of town guests came from Lakeland, Florida, Pecatonica, Ill., Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Chicago, Ill., West Allis, Stevens Point, Mosinee, Marshfield, Milwaukee, Spencer, Loyal, Colby, Stratford and Eagle River.
