Curtiss - Sept. 19, 1912

Mr. R. S. Meyers was to Marshfield on a shopping tour, last week.

Mrs. Schroeder of Thorp was visiting with friends in this city last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crosby Sundayed with the former’s parents in Spencer.

Mr. O. Cox is spending a dew days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Machlett.

Will Koerner and Will Barkow went to Marshfield to work for Krasin Bros. contractors.

Miss Laura Kramer of Spencer, was a Sunday visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hickok.

Wm. Steinbach of Owen is in our midst in the interest of the Time Insurance Co., of Milwaukee.

Herb Janke was a Marshfield visitor, Friday. While there he consulted Dr. Hipke about his eyes.

Eilery Jacobson who is working near Waupaca was home for a few days visit with friends and relatives.

Chas. Block and Frank Kraut hitched up Frank’s auto and went to the fair at Abbotsford, one day last week.

Niron Virch who is working in the Twin Cities, was home for a few days visit with his parents. He returned to his duties last Saturday.

Miss Alice Fischer and Miss Mary Lien of Stanley, accompanied by Chas. Block and Emil Erickson, spent Sunday with the former’s parents up on Black River and reported a very good time.

Market Day on the 14th, was a marked success and will go down in the history as one of the biggest days our little town ever saw. By noon all the barn room in town was taken by the farmer’s teams and the streets were lined on both sides with teams that could not find room in the barns. The exhibits, which were limited only to grains and vegetables, were good and there were plenty of them. The Committee put on some races in the afternoon and after the prizes were awarded the crowd started to leave for home, everyone agreeing that our little town is just as alive as any of them. The dance in the evening was well attended and the music furnished by the Clifton Harp Orchestra was pronounced by all to be as good as any.

P.S. – Will Hickok bought a cow at the auction last Saturday and he is looking for a set of false teeth for her.
