Brameld, Theodore Edward (2 May 1860 – 29 Mar. 1944)

Theodore Edward Brameld was born May 2, 1860, in East Markham, Nottinghamshire, England, the son of the Rev. George W. and Violette H. Brameld. He passed away in Milwaukee, Wis., on March 29, 1944.

He was educated in estate management in his early manhood, and at about the age of 21 went to Canada, where he lived ten years, developing agricultural projects. He returned to England for a year, and then came directly to Neillsville as manger of a stock farm owned by an English syndicate in which he later became a partner with the late M. Ring.

On January 15, 1896, he was married to Minnie Dangers at Fort Atkinson, Wis. Shortly afterwards, he went into the retail merchandise business in Neillsville, and became a citizen of the United States. His interests and training in agricultural fields, however, drew him more and more into farm real estate and management, and from about 1914 until his death he devoted himself to his original profession.

Mr. and Mrs. Brameld left Neillsville in 1927, spending two years in Chippewa Falls, and in 1929 located in Milwaukee, where they have since lived.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a past member of the Kiwanis Club, past president of Clark County real estate board and a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church.

Mr. Brameld is survived by his wife and a son, Dr. Theodore Brameld, associate professor of educational philosophy at the University of Minnesota. Four granddaughters also survive, Katherine A., Patricia G., Beatrice Louise and Margery Jean, the latter two being the daughters of another son, Raymond, who passed away in 1930.

Funeral services were conducted in Milwaukee March 31 by the Rev. Stoddard Patterson, associate rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and interment took place in the Neillsville Cemetery on April 2, with the Rev. G. W. Longenecker, officiating.

Dr. Theodore Brameld was in Milwaukee with his mother and accompanied her to Neillsville for the burial service.
